“After spending the majority of the year in quarantine, people are craving human connection, authenticity and a little fun. As their feeds fill with pushy, generic Black Friday ads – we’ll provide a much-deserved break from the monotony.
Our BFCM 2020 concept is designed to feel genuine, human and playful. Utilizing bite-sized video and raw, behind-the-scenes moments of models interacting with our product, we will be able to offer both a promotion and an emotional appeal, as well as highlight our home essentials in an entirely new way.
Messaging will focus on 20% off everything, with supplemental copy as lighthearted as the creative – calling out urgency, rarity and current culture. The sale won’t last, but this feeling will.”

”Good days start with laid-back mornings.
From the coziness of our bed to the ease of our favorite jeans, we crave a sense of comfort. Our newest collaboration brings the casual cool of Madewell’s signature chambray into the bedroom – the place we feel the most ourselves, and the most at home.
Inspired by natural indigo and casual workwear, this collection features relaxing items that can be mixed, matched or styled alone. Think soft cotton sheets, striped lumbar pillows and effortless accessories. Soothing blues that make a statement without making a fuss. Thoughtful details influenced by vintage flea market finds – with double needle topstitching, artful seams and timeless washes.
We’re creating a place where East Coast cool meets West Coast calm, where timeless design encourages downtime, and everyone is dressing their bed with the same care and confidence that they dress themselves.
Let’s get comfortable. “

"Jen Atkin and Mike Rosenthal have established themselves as a Los Angeles power couple, and now they have the house to match. Jen is the celebrity hairstylist known for getting the locks of Jessica Alba, Chrissy Teigen, and Gigi Hadid just so, and Mike is a photographer with more covers to his name than some of us have Instagram posts. They’ve worked hard to get where they are—late nights, constant travel, rarely saying no to the next job—and, as of last year, found themselves ready to embark on their first home renovation"

"Every home has one of what Zanna Roberts Rassi calls a 'slashie': a space that’s a little bit of everything but nothing in particular. For Zanna, senior fashion editor for Marie Claire and co-founder of Milk Makeup, it’s her apartment’s 'bedroom-slash-playroom-slash-sitting room-slash-I don’t know!' After living in their Manhattan loft for two years, Zanna and husband Mazdack (known to friends simply as Rassi) were stumped by this multipurpose space, used by their twin daughters as a playroom and also as a default guest bedroom."

“Our mornings look a little different these days...our evenings, too. What used to be rushed has slowed down, what was easy now requires more care. New rituals have sprung up in place of old patterns. And as we adapt to our new normal, we hold close the little things we’ve adopted while at home. Smelling fresh laundry, appreciating warm sun through the window, sipping a perfect cup of pour over coffee, feeling cool and crisp sheets against our bare legs – in these small moments is where we find comfort.

"Although best known for her roles on the TV comedies Friends and Cougar Town, when it comes to design, Courteney Cox is a serious aficionado. In fact, before decamping for Hollywood, the actress began college course work in architecture. So when it came time to renovate her Malibu home 10 years ago, Cox dove in headfirst, working closely with architect Michael Kovac and interior designer Trip Haenisch to fashion an airy, modernist retreat that balances sleek design with breathtaking views of the Pacific surf."

“The Holidays are filled with sensations we cherish, but what defines this season is the feeling of connection we find. Shared emotions of anticipation, excitement and appreciation surrounding the exchange of gifts bind us together. So let’s celebrate these interactions that bring us close with presents that feel as good to hold in our hands as it feels to see the look of joy on a loved one’s face when they tear back the wrapping paper.
It’s often said that a particularly thoughtful gift is “touching,” well, this campaign will reinforce the actual role that touch plays during the Holidays. The ads will feature close-up images of our cozy, soft, plush items paired with lines of copy that play off the twin tactile and emotional meanings of “feeling.” They will express that when you give a gift, you’re giving so much more than a thing.”

"For a year and a half, jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer spied on this home going up in her Santa Monica neighborhood. 'I kept passing it and looking at it and looking at it and thinking, I don’t know… There’s just something about that house. It kept pulling me in,' she says. 'When it was finished I was in love and knew it had to be mine.' The rambling two-story beauty was new but soulful, filled with enough natural light to make sunglasses inside seem reasonable."

"What was once a sparse room smattered with stickers is now a serene kid’s space with adult appeal. 'I had never really quite furnished it,' says actress Lucy Liu of her son Rockwell’s playroom, describing its former state as a kind of piecemealed limbo scattered with toys. And perhaps this was fine; after all, it’s not as if Rockwell were bothered by the lack of storage or the artless walls. But after seeing her friend Zanna Rassi’s polished playroom Lucy knew she needed to make a change."

“Summer – the season to get away. To get out of your comfort zone and experience something altogether foreign and exciting.
Our customer is a traveler. And while they seize any opportunity to see the world, they also know that there’s no place like home.
Which is why, at the end of each trip, they gratefully crawl back into their own bed, and dream of the next adventure.
We’re travelers, too. We searched the globe to find the best crafts-people to make our home essentials. And we deliver their artisan-ship directly to our customers – to fill their space with sheets from Portugal, rugs from India and towels from Turkey. Because we understand their desire to have the world at their fingertips from the comfort of home.

“We all have animal instincts. From fight or flight to finding a mate – these inherent, unlearned behaviors are coded into our DNA. One of our strongest biological urges is nesting: Creating a place where we feel safe and comfortable, somewhere that’s cozy and familiar. Just like bears build out dens, gorillas make nests and rabbits dig hutches – we too, have an innate desire to create a habitat for ourselves. So whether you’re outfitting a vintage airstream like a hermit crab finding a new shell, or designing a four bedroom home like a lion looking after his territory – Parachute’s natural essentials will make it home.
Focus on 3 habitats: Arctic, Forest, Desert.

"As for the big reveal, 'the first time I walked into the space after One Kings Lane designed it, I thought, Who is this chic person who lives here?' Mindy recalls. 'I couldn’t believe it, and I desperately didn’t want to mess it up because it’s just so chic and clean.' This disbelief mingled with relief, because Mindy has no time for decorating mistakes. Her schedule is too packed and too varied to deal with a sofa that doesn’t fit or the wrong shade of white. There are days when she’s commanding a crew of 175 for a TV show, then there are full days of press, then there are evening events, and then there’s writing. Writing. It’s what she’ll be doing most in this apartment, perhaps with some wine and almost certainly with chili, she’ll retreat here to create the scenes she’s known and admired for. To date she’s written close to 50 TV episodes in her L.A. home, and she plans to write another 50 right here."

"Lively and bold, with a globe-trotting spirit: It’s a description that could apply as well to Roberta Freymann’s fashion and textiles line, Roller Rabbit, as to the woman herself. Born in London, Roberta grew up on Manhattan’s Upper East Side and has spent decades exploring far-flung locales, from Argentina to India—collecting artwork, learning languages (she speaks five), and developing a serious passion for global textiles along the way. "You know her as the trailblazing editor who founded Lonny, revived Domino from the dead, kick-started TRADhome, and launched a sprightly organic-textiles company called Rubie Green. And you know her as a New Yorker. But two years ago, Michelle Adams decided to leave the city where one sleeps in a 475-square-foot apartment for the greener, more expansive pastures of Ann Arbor, MI. She bought a three-bedroom, one-and-one-half-bath Georgian-style fixer-upper in Burns Park, a cool historical neighborhood close to downtown. And she got to work on renovating her dated ’50s kitchen and bath and building her dream home—and dream lifestyle. “In terms of how my life has changed, I couldn’t be happier,” she tells us. 'I work on my laptop outside in the sunshine with my doors open and my music playing, instead of racing around New York, stressed out by the pace of life.'"

"'It’s not theme-y,' says menswear designer Michael Bastian of the New York City apartment he’s called home for more than two decades and now shares with husband Mike Vasquez. 'And it doesn’t look done either.' Michael first toured the 650-square-foot West Village walk-up in 1995 and leased it on the spot. 'They’re going to have to carry me out of here,' he says—and one can easily understand why. Centrally located in the same neighborhood as the homes of Julianne Moore and Sarah Jessica Parker, it is one of those rare rent-controlled gems so well suited to its inhabitants that it’s difficult to imagine anyone else living there. Most everything in the apartment was chosen by Michael (Mike moved in when the couple married last June), but given that their tastes are so similar, it’s safe to say that the overriding aesthetic is reflective of them both.

"'Form over function' is the notion interior designer Jennifer Vaughn Miller lives by when it comes to client projects, but 'for a tiny house with a four-year-old,' like her own in Southold, NY, 'it’s function,' she says. Built in 1706 by the miller of her town on Long Island’s North Fork, her two-bedroom saltbox beach house has both the character (shingles, exposed beams) and the quirks (low ceilings, floors that tilt just that much) of a historic home."

"The backyard of Mindy Kaling’s new Los Angeles home is geared for entertaining. Rows of mature arborvitaes screen a stone terrace, grassy lawn, and swimming pool from the rest of its Hancock Park locale, giving Kaling just the right amount of privacy to live uninhibited en plein air. And since this is her first yard of this size and, dare we say, caliber, she admits she has a bit of work to do in order to fully embrace what she calls “the new Mindy Kaling outdoor lifestyle.” Whereas once she merely RSVP’d to poolside fetes, she’ll now actually have to throw a few herself. 'I can’t be this misanthropic comedy writer who doesn’t invite people over,' she says, 'so I’ll have to turn a new leaf in terms of how I socialize.' And as with any other new lifestyle worth embracing, the first step toward success was new decor."

"Bobby Graham and Matthew Marden’s New York apartment is a collected mash-up of vintage finds, hand-me-downs, and one-of-a-kind pieces of art. Located in the city’s West Village neighborhood, it is a stone’s throw away from the Stonewall Inn, where in 1969 the gay liberation movement marked its start. It is also not far from the studios and walk-ups where many of the writers and artists we are taught—Edna St. Vincent Millay, Henry James, Hans Hoffman—once lived and produced the work for which they are known. Of course said event has ended and these people have gone, but there is still very much a sense that things happened here. Unlike other parts of the city, the West Village has yet to be touched by developers with visions of glass walls and condominiums with movie-viewing rooms. Instead, it is a place where originality and history are still apparent. Along its tree-lined streets one finds Italianate tenements with green awnings extending from entrance to curb, brownstones with stoops and double doors bearing big brass knobs, and the occasional dweller, on a stroll, who was around when things started to kick up in 1969. In short, it offers a taste of what we think about when we think about life in New York."

"While designer Bailey McCarthy may spend her weekdays in Houston, designing pretty and playful bedding for her company, Biscuit Home, and keeping readers of her popular blog, Peppermint Bliss, inspired, weekends are all about taking advantage of Texas’s wide open spaces. After their son, Harry, now two-and-a-half, was born, Bailey and her husband, Pete, began searching for a place to get away for quality family time with Harry and big sister Grace, now five. 'We wanted somewhere that we could drive, where we could be together without distractions,' Bailey says. 'We pretty much drew a circle around Houston to include anywhere we could get to by car in under two hours and started looking from there.'"

"After 27 years in Brooklyn, Jason Oliver Nixon and John Loecke, the designing duo behind the celebrated firm Madcap Cottage, were ready for a change. They felt that it was time to downsize, city-wise. They’d been visiting High Point, NC, for the past 20 years to attend the biannual design market, and they decided this could be a place where they could get involved and help the community flourish. But it was the charming 1930s Regency Revival home they found that sealed the deal. 'It feels like it’s been plucked from the edge of Regent’s Park in London, and that’s very much our sensibility and style,' says Jason. So they put their Brooklyn brownstone on the market, packed their three dogs in the car, and headed south."

Matouk has come a long way since its founding in 1929, from a space in midtown Manhattan to a sprawling complex in an idyllic countryside setting. One thing that hasn’t changed? The brand’s focus on traditional craftsmanship. 'All of our sheets, all of our towels, all of the other products that we sell are always managed by artisans and craftspeople,' George says. "Nantucket is a place so storied its nautical-preppy cliché runs the risk of overshadowing its true beauty: its rugged coast; its weathered, shingle-covered buildings; its vibrant gardens. The true nature of this New England island was not lost on the owners of Greydon House, a boutique hotel that opened on the island this past fall. Real-estate-investor brothers Alexander and Jeremy Leventhal and partner Elliot Gould’s Faros Properties had never opened a hotel before. But having summered on nearby Cape Cod as kids and fallen in love with Nantucket as adults, the trio knew they wanted their contribution to the island to feel authentic."

"It’s no secret that jewelry designer and international It Girl Rebecca de Ravenel has an enviable sense of style. Her cult-favorite Les Bonbonsearrings have been spotted everywhere from the pages of Vogue to the red carpet, and her signature style, a mix of tropical-bohemian ease and urban European chic, is well-documented in globe-trotting Instagram snaps.
Turns out, the designer is also a consummate hostess. Having worked in interiors before launching her jewelry line, Rebecca has an eye for creating comfortable, personality-rich spaces—and get-togethers. 'The gist of any party I do is that everything should be easy, pretty, a little thought out, and have a little bit of whimsy,' she says. "There is only one look in Prep decorating: Not Decorated,' declares Lisa Birnbach in her 1980 tome, The Official Preppy Handbook, which is to say 'nothing is consciously coordinated, but everything works together through a successful marriage of utility and excellence.' A comical take, yes, but it does sum up the look of Matt Albiani and Ron Brand’s Montauk, NY, hideaway. Behind its shingled exterior one finds a collected mix of nautical nods arranged with a level of nonchalance that lends every vignette—from a trio of postcards tacked above a table in Williamsburg green to a ceramic spaniel lamp beside a silver tray—its own form of haphazard perfection."

"After a 'mad search,' a lucky tip led to a light-filled, open-plan space right in the neighborhood. Arrangements were made, papers were signed, and Katie and her husband, Averill (the two were high-school sweethearts, reunited after many years), embarked on a whirlwind renovation. The goal? To play up the apartment’s wonderful sunlight and open layout while infusing it with Katie’s signature worldly, welcoming style. "As is so often the case in New York City, finding the perfect apartment was a waiting game for CeCe Barfield Thompson—just not as long of a wait as she expected. The designer, who worked under Bunny Williams before launching her eponymous firm in 2015, has a master’s degree in historic preservation and a fondness for the city’s storied old buildings. Her husband grew up in a classic home in Virginia and similarly craved something with a bit of history. Their dream was an apartment on Gramercy Park: a charming private green space (only residents of the bordering blocks have keys) nestled amid the bustle of downtown Manhattan, surrounded by a square of stately townhomes. It feels like a glimpse into a New York of the 19th century. There’s 'a little bit slower pace,' CeCe says. 'You know your neighbors. The buildings are low-rise, so you have a lot of sun. And on top of that, there’s an element of preservation in the area that makes it very special.'"

"Stepping inside Tricia Foley’s new Bellport, NY, home is like watching the first 60 seconds of Woody Allen’s Interiors: quiet bliss. Sunlight pours through cathedral-like windows. A fire crackles in the fireplace. Outside, a white heron glides across the marshland, cutting through a soft seaside haze. And everything is white: the walls, the banisters, the furniture, the sponge in the kitchen sink. It’s a scheme that Tricia has become known for. Over the course of her career as a magazine editor, designer, and creative consultant for companies including Wedgwood and Ralph Lauren, Tricia has mastered the art of crafting colorless spaces with a sense of soul."

"Before fall swept us back to New York this year, I wanted to find a way to capture this natural, lower-profile side of Nantucket: the summery comfort foods that reflect the local supply, the understated look and feel of island design, and the people who are making all of this happen in a fresh way. A dinner party—an open-house, outdoors, no-place-cards kind, in my childhood home—seemed like a doable way to conjure that all up, for a few hours at least."

"After years overseeing social media for top American fashion brands (and curating her own wanderlust-inducing Instagram account), Amy Stone has mastered the art of communicating a feeling through color and composition. So when it came to decorating her new apartment, it’s no wonder she had a clear vision. 'I love traditional sensibilities but with a lived-in feel,' Amy says. 'I prefer masculine tones, I love rich fabrications, and I’m pro-stripe—that’s my philosophy for sure. And chinoiserie-happy always.' She also hoped to bring in a touch of the relaxed-meets-preppy style of Nantucket, her regular summer getaway and ultimate happy place."

"Kate Rheinstein Brodsky is who you want to sit next to at dinner. Gracious and curious, she operates with the kind of quick-witted humor you’d be tempted to call Southern. Born in Los Angeles and raised in the city’s Hancock Park neighborhood, Kate moved to New York to attend NYU and now runs her own store, KRB, on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Citing Diana Vreeland and her mother, famed interior designer Suzanne Rheinstein, as influencers, Kate says of her personal style, 'I only have two modes: anonymous or out-there… and I think the same could be said for the way I decorate.'"

"Kate Schelter’s business card reads “creative girl,” and it will never need to be changed. An artist, creative director, stylist, and brand consultant, Kate is a jack-of-many-trades and a master of all. After a robust career in fashion taking photographs for Vogue and assisting names like Annie Leibovitz, Kate returned to her first passion: painting—watercolors, to be precise. Blotted beauties of Belgian shoes, garden blooms, and Parisian boutiques are her signature; an ode to both Americana and Continental finesse, they represent a person who sees our world as one of beauty. It’s a vision she’s managed to morph into a career, selling pieces on her website, creating work on commission for such design notables as David Netto, Julia Chaplin, and Rebecca de Ravenel, and soon, putting it all on display in her first book, Classic Style: Hand It Down, Dress It Up, Wear It Out. Classic Style–a title that suits her work and life as much as it does her apartment."

"When Laura Resen and her partner, Cloud Devine, stumbled across the rambling ranch property they now call home, it was a prime example of midcentury design—and not in a good way. Outside, all was fine. Nestled in the hills of California’s Sonoma County, the property reads as a true retreat; toss in a kidney-shape pool and you’ve got the kind of West Coast ideal many of us only dream of obtaining. Inside, however, was another story. In the den there were two tones of wood paneling that didn’t quite match. In the kitchen rows of fluorescents backed a sunken ceiling. And then there were the bedrooms—shag carpeting in both purple and cream. Dark and dated, the house was the antithesis of where you’d imagine two photographers such as Laura and Cloud laying down roots. But lay down roots they did."

Instead Bobbi sought something entirely different than anything she’d done before, and she found it in The George Inn. A 32-room boutique hotel located in Bobbi’s hometown of Montclair, NJ, The George is the latest labor of love for Bobbi and husband Steven Plofker. "There are hotels booked for nothing more than a night’s rest—and then there are hotels you never want to leave. GrayBarns on the Silvermine River is most definitely the latter, as we confirmed on a recent visit to the Norwalk, CT, inn. We slept in canopy beds made with Frette sheets; we bundled up in white terry robes to watch The Crown; we luxuriated in soaking tubs atop heated travertine floors. The only time we left, in fact, was to walk the surrounding country roads and breathe in a kind of air that’s a little fresher than what we’re used to."

"You hear a phrase in Ojai, CA, when locals describe the stunning sunset glow that comes each evening: It’s called “a pink moment.” Ojai itself is having a moment. More and more stylish, creative Angelenos (Los Angeles is a 90-minute drive away) are settling in this relaxed, beautiful small town, nestled in a valley surrounded by the Topatopa Mountains.
Stylist and Vogue contributing editor Lawren Howell recently made the move with her young family. While it may seem a surprising choice for this fashion insider who has spent most of her time in swirling big cities, she says Ojai is the perfect mix of serene and stimulating. 'There’s such a cultural savviness here,' Lawren explains. 'Ojai draws interesting, creative people from all over. The vibe here is not vastly different from the cities I’ve lived in.'"

"It was a sailing trip to Nantucket that inspired Sophie Aschauer to make her first handwoven mat out of recycled marine rope. Soon enough, in 2011 her brand, SerpentSea, set sail. 'In the beginning I only made the mats for myself and didn’t think it would turn into a business,' she tells us. 'I used to work in an art gallery, and a co-worker told me she was looking for a doormat.' Sophie brought in all her mats the following morning and within five minutes had sold them all to various colleagues. 'That’s when it dawned on me that I could turn it into a business.'
We visited the Australia native and new mom, who resides in New York with her husband, Paul Sevigny, at her studio on the Lower East Side for a peek into her process and a tour of her favorite local spots."

"Patience is key in New York real estate. For Jenni Li, the owner of Peruvian textiles bazaar Intiearth, the search for the Brooklyn home she shares with daughter Taylor, 20, and sons Son, 11, and Harmony, 7, was a prolonged one. 'We looked for a long time,' she says. 'A lot of things that were on the market needed to be gut renovated.' With three kids and a busy business, a full-scale renovation simply wasn’t possible. Tara Shaw has stayed true to her native Louisiana, long ago becoming one of New Orleans’s leading lights in design, but she just can’t stay away from Europe. During the past 25 years she’s taken countless Continental jaunts in search of treasures for her antiques and interior design businesses and to inspire her line of reproduction furnishings. It’s in tucked-away shops in France, Italy, and Sweden that she trained her eye. “That’s the ultimate treasure hunt,” she says. “It’s guerrilla antiquing. "'I’m a triple Pisces, so I tend to go through the world with not just rose-colored glasses, but triple-layered rose-colored glasses,' says Danielle Rollins, who takes our call from a dressing table in the master bathroom of her Atlanta home. Known for her decadent approach to Southern style, Danielle has made a name for herself in the realms of event planning (she’s written two books on the matter), interior design, and as of this past year, fashion. She considers herself something of a lifestyle expert, a term too dubious for most but one she can back up with an extensive portfolio of work. One look at an image of the party she threw for Oscar de la Renta or of the silk taffeta ball skirts she dreams up for her namesake fashion line and Danielle’s talent for making beautiful things is clear. Lay the images side by side, and one discovers the most telling mark of a person who has mastered her craft: consistency."

"'New Orleans is a social city,' says veteran decorator Thomas Jayne. 'It’s less about making a fortune and more about being with people and human interaction.' And Thomas’s cozy setup—he and his husband, Rick Ellis, occupy the parlor level of a circa-1836 townhouse in the French Quarter—allows him to rub shoulders with his like-minded neighbors. 'It’s like a little art collective—more of a commune than a condominium,' jokes Thomas, who is based in New York but visits his Southern second home every six weeks or so and 'always for Christmas, New Year’s, carnival, and August’s Antiques Forum.'"

"One very specific and unusual request led founder-designer Brett Heyman of accessories brand Edie Parker to the interior designer of her six-bedroom getaway in northwestern Connecticut. 'I really wanted someone who had worked in a visual team at a fashion house,' she says. Having worked at Gucci as the director of PR, she’d learned that people who worked in visual departments 'knew where to buy really good pieces and not such expensive pieces.' After inquiring with a few friends, one name kept coming up: Mark Cunningham. The Manhattan-based decorator had honed his knack for discovering rare gems while working for Ralph Lauren for years. "An artist who works largely in sumi ink and watercolor on handmade paper, Chattanooga, TN-based Kate Roebuck would be described by most as a painter. But it’s her training in textile design and her love of textiles that dropped her into her world of cobalt and ocher inks. After somewhat serendipitously finding herself in a textile-design program at the University of Georgia, Kate worked with 'surface design' company Hable Construction for five years, where she 'really fell in love with pattern and the way pattern and shapes in color interact with one another,' Kate tells us.
When Kate and her husband, Cody, relocated from Athens, GA (where Hable is based) to Tennessee, 'at that time it really felt like what I wanted to do every day was just be an artist and go to my studio and have that creative time to paint and draw and think,' she reveals. "I head to Williamsburg, Brooklyn, to learn from the men who are arguably the hottest florists in this new landscape—Michael and Darroch Putnam of Putnam & Putnam. Their arrangements walk an elegant line between antique beauty—they often use Victorian-inspired cloches and dusty palettes—and back-to-nature wildness. The fashion world can’t get enough of them, perhaps because they like to take flowers to uncharted territory: up into a 50-foot hanging garden or into a composition where everything, from the lemons to the vase, is pastel green."

"If you’ve ever cuddled up with an Alicia Adams Alpaca throw or scarf, then you know that the designer puts as much emphasis on comfort as she does on style. Alicia and her husband, Daniel, also took the same approach to their family farm in New York’s Hudson Valley. Set on 80 acres, the farm is home to 40 of the company’s 200 alpacas, as well as chickens and a rescue cat and dog named Sugar and Canela, respectively. The couple moved to the farm nearly 11 years ago from Munich and fell instantly in love with the area and the landscape. 'The countryside is just amazing,' Alicia says.
